Awel-Deg, Aberystwyth
Awel-Deg: Reviews
Date: April 2008 Rating: Excellent
Awel Deg Bed and Breakfast is situated five miles inland from Aberystwyth. Its location makes it perfect for visiting many of mid-Wales tourist attractions.
Awel Deg only has two letting rooms, which help to give it a friendly air and you get to know your fellow guests at breakfast time. Mrs & Mrs Jones are splendid hosts, who have lived in the area for many years and have a huge knowledge of places to visit and places to eat (there are two pubs within walking distances – The Maesbangor Arms, which serves traditional pub fare (and gave us a very friendly welcome) and The Tynllidiart Arms, which serves more what I would call gastro pub food and is also home to the world's smallest commercial brewery.
The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and well-furnished, with plentiful supplies of tea, coffee, toiletries etc. There is also plenty of car parking on site, always a bonus, as many of the hotels on Aberystwyth's seafront only offer street car parking. The front of Awel Deg enjoys wonderful views over the Rheidol Valley (listen out for the steam train!) and Red Kites are often seen flying above.
If you are looking for a peaceful, friendly place to stay, which is reasonably priced too, then I would most certainly recommend Awel Deg.
